DeWalt DCS570 Review

DeWalt is a very famous manufacturer and many of the people either use their tools very often or even are fans of their products. I am using their tools quite often and I am going to review  DEWALT DCS570 7-1/4" (184mm) 20V Cordless Circular Saw. It’s an upgrade of a previous model and it does have some very cool improvements. Hope my review will help to make your purchase decision.

DEWALT DCS570

The first important thing is that the tool has a very ergonomic design. It matches your hand and it’s very comfortable to hold and use it. The hand goes to the left and it also has an additional handle which helps you to hold the tool if it's necessary.

It’s a cordless saw, so you will not have to look where your cord is. It has a very good weight and it’s well balanced. I don’t care about the weight too much because I don’t hold it in the air when I use it. It stays on my workspace. But anyway, if the saw is too light it’s more difficult to control it. Any movement can affect your cut. With the DeWalt, everything will be fine. It’s not so lightweight. The bare tool weighs 7.5 pounds which is good in my opinion. The weight depends on which battery you are using.

It has an aluminum shoe which is pretty durable. If you accidentally drop this thing it will not break or get any serious damage. Of course, it depends on the height from where you drop it.

A very good thing is that this shoe is adjustable. You can change its angle very easy. I have seen saws where you had to take a wrench to make such adjustment. But DeWalt DCS570 allows doing this very easy, basically with only one hand. You even don’t need to put the tool on a workspace.

You can also set the depth of cut. And it’s also very easy to adjust which I like a lot.

The shoe is very bright and the marks are very easy to read. The marks are made with great attention and they are deep into the metal.

What I like is that all important details are made of hard metal. This is good in terms of safety.

There is a very bright LED on the front which lights the cut line.

  • Brushless Motor
  • Electronic Blade Break
  • 5200 RPM 7-1/4" (184mm) blade

Battery

Pay attention that this thing doesn’t include the battery if you buy it as a bare tool. It will have the battery included only if you buy a combo kit. You can use 20V standard DeWalt battery but it can also work with FlexVolt.

Many people ask how long can it work with a single FlexVolt battery? The answer is: you can work a lot. It will be enough for the whole day even if you work with this saw a lot. If you have 2 batteries you will be able to work without any breaks by replacing them if required. That’s a very good advantage of the FlexVolt.

With a FlexVolt battery, this thing becomes stronger and more powerful. It can even compete with corded saws.

DCS570 20V vs DCS575 FlexVolt Saw

Very often people ask about the difference between DCS570 20V and DCS575 FlexVolt saws. When you look at them you will hardly find big differences. Both have the same design. The only difference is the colors: FlexVolt has several darker parts.

Looking at them many people think that they also have similar power. But that’s wrong! The FlexVolt saw has much more power.

Will the things change if you put FlexVolt battery into a 20V saw? Not seriously. You will get more power but anyway the DCS575 holds its leadership.

The Price

The bare tool costs about $150 but you can find it on Amazon for $129. This is a very good price for this type of equipment. The competitors of DeWalt: Milwaukee and Makita, offer similar tools for $200 or even more. As you see this one has a very good price.

If you really want to purchase this thing you should compare all available purchasing options.

Bare Tool
  • 7-1/4" (184mm) Circular saw
  • 7-1/4" (184mm) Blade
  • Blade changing wrench.

This is the cheapest option and it's good if you have DeWalt 20V battery or FlexVolt battery at home.

Kit
  • 7-1/4" (184mm) Circular saw
  • 7-1/4" (184mm) Blade
  • Blade changing wrench
  • 20V Lithium-ion battery
  • Fast charger

This option is more expensive and is great if you want to buy all the stuff altogether. It has the tool, battery, and charger.

You can buy DCS570 if you are limited on budget, but I would buy DCS575 just because it has more power and better battery. The price difference is not so large and in my opinion, it's better to get some money and buy a more advanced model. Right now I don't see a reason to buy DeWALT DCS570 unless you want to buy it as a gift or you are really limited in your budget.
