DeWalt DW7880 Scroll-Saw Stand Review

In this article, I want to review DeWalt DW7880 Scroll-Saw Stand. I will tell you about my whole experience of using this item. When I started writing this text I didn't think that there are so many details I can share about this simple item..

DeWalt DW7880 Scroll-Saw Stand

Pay attention that this thing is made exclusively for DeWalt DW788 Scroll Saw. Many people ask if this stand fit other models of saws. The general answer is: no, most likely it won’t. The manufacturer didn’t test it with other models. So if you want to use it with other models you may experience difficulties.

Appearance

The first thing you will notice is that the stand has 3 legs, not 4 like you may expect. Some people may think that it’s not enough, but this is wrong. 3 legs are absolutely enough. It stays on the floor quite good (of course only if your floor is made well and it’s even). It may not stay well on an uneven floor, but that’s not the problem of the stand…

The stand is black and looks solid. It’s painted with traditional DeWalt black paint. It has a triangle shape and it fits the saw pretty well. When you mount the saw, everything looks very good.

Technical Features

The height of the item from the floor to the mounting area is 31 1/2". With the saw mounted, the height from the floor to the saw table is 39 1/2".

The width of the front part in the widest spot at the bottom is 19 1/4" out to out. As you see it doesn’t require too much space to be placed. The triangle form makes it even more compact.

The item weighs 24.1 pounds which is enough to counter the slight vibration of the saw, even when the speed is high and the stand isn’t bolted to the floor. If you want to lower the vibration even more, you can place a rubber pad under the legs.

The instruction says that you need to bolt it to the floor if you want to get rid of the vibration entirely. This isn’t the best solution if you are planning to move it from one place to another. But if you are planning to keep it in one place, this is a very good thing to do. I actually recommend doing this because you will have a perfect experience with your saw in this case.

The item is made to fit the DeWalt DW788 Scroll Saw and it works very well with this saw mounted.

Disadvantages

  • The first disadvantage I want to mention is that the legs aren’t adjustable, meaning you can’t tweak the height if each leg separately. Sometimes this is very important, especially if the floor in your workshop isn’t perfect. I wish the legs to be adjustable.
  • The second disadvantage is that there is no storage space at all. You don’t have a place where you can store your blades and other necessary stuff.

Conclusion

Well, I absolutely recommend this stand only if you are planning to bolt it to the floor. In this case, it will stand very solid and the saw will work like a charm. The instruction recommends doing this, and it’s a very good thing to do.

If you are not planning to bolt it and want it to be mobile, you should think a little. Some people say that it doesn’t have enough stability. I didn’t notice this; maybe those people have an uneven floor which doesn’t allow the stand to stay as it should… But anyway, this is a small thing you should remember when making a purchase.
